HONIARA, Solomon Islands (December 31, 2001 – Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation/PINA Nius Online)---A Pacific Air Express cargo plane damaged during landing at Honiara's Henderson International Airport in October is still awaiting repairs.

The Russian-built aircraft transported frozen air cargo, primarily fish exports from the Solomon Islands.

It skidded off the runway while landing, apparently after a tire burst.

The aircraft blocked the taxiway into the international terminal but was finally moved to a nearby grassy area.

General Manager of Pacific Air Express Solomon Islands, John Baura, said the company is sub-leasing another aircraft to maintain the air cargo service.
