PAPE‘ETE, French Polynesia (January 2, 2002 – Tahitipresse)---The new European currency (euro) now is available from French Polynesia’s banks.

However, the French territories in the Pacific -- French Polynesia, New Caledonia and Wallis and Futuna -- will continue to use the CFP, French Pacific franc.

On the whole, the new European currency should not change much for French Polynesia.

Exports to European countries could be easier in some cases.

A euro is worth 119.33174 French pacific francs.
