ILLEGAL SAMOAN FISHING BOAT FINED IN AMERICAN SAMOA

PAGO PAGO, American Samoa (January 4, 2002 – Radio Australia)---A boat from neighboring Samoa, caught fishing illegally in the U.S. territory’s waters last August, has been fined $120,000 by the U.S. National Marine Fisheries Service.

When detained, the boat, owned by Albacore Investments Limited, had a catch of 28 tons of albacore tuna aboard.

The value of the fish was estimated at $40,000.
