PAPUA POLICE HOPEFUL THEYS' DEATH TO BE SOLVED SOON

JAYAPURA, Papua, Indonesia (February 6, 2002 – Antara/Kabar-Irian)---Papua Police Chief Inspector General Made Mangku Pastika said the presence of a team from the military police will hopefully result in the solution of the mystery behind the death of Papuan Presidium Council Chairman Theys Hiyo Eluay.

"Hopefully, the investigation conducted by the team can soon unravel the case of the kidnapping and murder of the pro-independence leader," he said here Tuesday.

He was commenting on the arrival here of a Military Police team directly led by the force's chief, Maj. Gen. Jasri Marin, to conduct an investigation into Theys' death.
