TAIWAN HELPS TURN ON THE POWER IN WOTJE

MAJURO, Marshall Islands (January 25, 2002 – The Marshall Islands Journal)---A check for $466,262 for the Wotje power plant project was personally delivered by Taiwan Ambassador Gary Song-huann Lin to Mike Konelios, Minister of Finance, on Tuesday morning.

According to MEC’s Wotje power plant project manager Steve Wakefield, the project is currently running according to schedule, with 90 percent of the underground cable installed and the new building 60 percent complete.

"The fuel tanks and generators arrived in Majuro this week and will be shipped up to Wotje next week," he said.

"The power plant will be assembled and complete by the time it is due to be commissioned, which is the 31st of March."
