SAIPAN, Northern Mariana Islands (February 12, 2002 – Radio Australia)--At least 27 Saipan employers have been barred from hiring foreign workers after committing various violations under the Non-Resident Workers Act last year.

The companies include Eurotex, which is accused of failing to properly pay the wages of more than 300 guest workers.

The Department of Labour and Employment reported that the corporate shareholders, directors and officers of the garment firm were permanently barred from hiring non-resident workers last May.

Among other firms also barred from hiring foreign workers is the American Zhong Min Corp., which operated a karaoke bar.
