BRISBANE, Australia (March 5, 2002 – Radio Australia/PIR)---Fiji's deposed Prime Minister Mahendra Chaudhry made a surprise appearance at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Coolum Monday.

His arrival stunned the Fiji delegation headed by Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase.

Indo-Fijian Chaudhry said he has came to the CHOGM to brief delegations from Mauritius and India about the latest political developments in Fiji. His meetings are taking place on the sidelines of CHOGM, as he is not part of Fiji's official delegation.

Chaudhry said he is not trying to upstage the official delegation but simply representing his political followers.
