MAN SENTENCE TO 25 YEARS JAIL IN PALAU FOR "ICE" TRAFFICKING

KOROR, Palau (March 13, 2002 – Radio Australia)---A man has been sentenced to 25 years jail in Palau for trafficking in the drug methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as "ice."

The judge imposed the penalty on Valentine Ueki for four counts of "ice" trafficking.

He also was ordered to pay a fine of more than AU$ 400,000 (U$ 207,880).

Ueki was arrested following three consecutive buy and a search operations, controlled by law officials, last year.
