FIJI, SOLOMONS, VANUATU ORGANIZATIONS WIN HUMAN RIGHTS AWARDS

SUVA, Fiji Islands (March 14, 2002 - PINA Nius Online)---Six organizations from three countries were named last night winners of the 2001 Pacific Human Rights Awards during ceremonies in Suva.

The annual awards are organized and sponsored by the Suva-based Pacific Regional Human Rights Education Resource Team (RRRT).

The winners of all categories were tied, and are sharing the F$ 8, 000 (US$ 3,509.20) prize money.

Winners were:

Fiji: Citizens Constitutional Forum; and Lautoka District Dorcas

Solomon Islands: National Council of Women; and Family Support Center

Regional: Vanuatu Women's Center; and Foundation for the Peoples of the South Pacific - Vanuatu Branch.
