FRENCH POLYNESIA PASSES ABORTION BILL

PAPE‘ETE, Tahiti, French Polynesia (March 29, 2002 – Tahitipresse)---The Assembly of French Polynesia has passed a bill approving abortions.

It includes details on how women undergoing the procedure will be reimbursed by the government’s health care services.

The measure passed 27 to 22.

French law first granted abortion rights to women in French territory during August of last year.
