PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea (April 17, 2002 – Post-Courier)---Results from this year’s national elections in June will be updated as they become available and published on the Internet each day.

The results will be posted by the Electoral Commission on its website [] and will be available online anywhere in Papua New Guinea and the world.

Those who have a computer and are on the Internet service will be able to keep up to date with the latest count of election results without having to go to the central tally room.

Reuben Kaiulo, the Electoral Commissioner, has been pushing for this to happen since last year because he wanted the media and everybody else to get election results quickly.

He started talking about computerized election results after the Electoral Commission Internet website was launched at a small, quiet ceremony during an election working workshop in Port Moresby.

Yesterday, the commission’s computer team showed Mr Kaiulo and his election operations squad how it would be done.
