UN OFFERS FIJI SECURITY POSTINGS IN IRAQ

SUVA, Fiji Islands (May 7, 2002 – Radio Australia)---The United Nations has offered Fiji 12 security postings in Iraq.

The personnel involved would provide security for UN employees engaged in providing humanitarian assistance in the Middle Eastern country.

It is believed the Fiji police have been offered five of the positions.

However, police and military sources could not confirm whether the group to go to Iraq will comprise personnel from the army as well.
