SUVA, Fiji Islands (May 21, 2002 – Special to Pacific Islands Report)---A USP student and Wansolwara Regional Area reporter was nabbed on Sunday night by police as he was returning from the movies.

This occurred around 7:00 p.m.

Apparently, there was a robbery in the area around the Domain in Suva, and police were looking for a man said to have fled to the area where which the USP student was walking home.

Police, suspecting the USP student as the culprit, followed him for a while before stopping him.

After asking where he’d been they forcefully emptied his pockets, pulling a Walkman stereo from his pocket, and demanded that he accompany them to the police station.

The student from the Solomon Islands told them that he’d only been to the movies and was returning home, and didn’t know what they were talking about.

Outside the police station, a woman identified him as the wrong person.

After apologizing, the police drove him back to where he was mistakenly arrested.
