STARKIST SAMOA MOVING FORWARD WITH US$ 2.5 MILLION IMPROVEMENT PLAN

PAGO PAGO, American Samoa (June 18, 2002 – Radio Australia)---StarKist Samoa is proceeding with a US$ 2.5 million improvement plan for its production plant in American Samoa.

Approval of the project, which includes the renovation of its Pago Pago Harbor wharf, is expected to create more jobs and be completed by October 2003.

StarKist Samoa's general manager, Phil Thirkel, said such a major project is a clear indication that the company will continue to invest in the territory.
