APIA, Samoa (July 7, 2002 – Samoa Observer)---General Manager of Samoa Air, Billy Meredith, has extended his thanks to the government and the Airport Authority for the runway resealing work recently completed at Fagali’i Airport.

"I’d like to thank the government and the AA for the upgrade work recently done to the Fagali’i runway. It’s very much appreciated," he said.

Samoa Air resumed its flights at Fagali’i Airport yesterday morning when the airport was officially reopened.

A month ago, Samoa Air and Polynesian Airlines requested the Ministry of Civil Aviation to further improve the runway resealing when the surface was found to be unfit for aircraft use.

This followed two months of earlier work during which the airport was closed down for upgrading.

Other renovations include the expansion of the parking lot and a revamping of the terminal area.

All flights during the construction were transferred to Faleolo Airport.

"Fagali’i Airport (being close to Apia) is very convenient not only for our airline but especially our passengers," said Mr. Meredith.
