NUKU‘ALOFA, Tonga (August 16, 2002 – Radio New Zealand International)---More than 200 Tongan students are to appear in court this morning on charges of willful damage after Wednesday’s rampage at a rival school.

Police say the students from Tupou College have been under arrest for allegedly causing an estimated quarter of a million U.S. dollars in damages.

They allegedly destroyed Tonga College’s truck, many of its computers, broke windows, and musical instruments.

Tonga College’s Deputy Principal, Ilai Toli, says the destruction followed several clashes between students of both colleges after two successive rugby victories by his school.
