HONIARA, Solomon Islands (Oct. 31, 2002 - Solomon Star/PINA Nius Online)---The Solomon Islands Cabinet is now deciding what government bills are to be paid in a week as part of cash management in the continuing financial crisis.

The Office of Prime Minister said there are more bills than the government has cash to pay.

The government has about Sol$5 million to pay each week. But the revenue that it is getting at the moment is just over Sol$3 million, government sources said.

One of the government's high priorities is to address law and order, and payment of police officers is always a priority, the sources said.

The economic crisis follows more than two years of ethnic conflict and continuing law and order problems despite a peace agreement.
