90-YEAR-OLD MAN WINS SEAT IN SAMOAN PARLIAMENT

APIA, Samoa (Samoa Observer/PINA Nius) - A 90-year-old has man has won an election in Samoa and will sit in the nation's parliament.

Taatiti Alofa was 90 votes clear of his next rival at the final count for the vacant seat for Alataua West, meaning it stayed with the Samoa National Development Party.

Alofa defeated two candidates representing the governing HRPP.

The seat was vacant because of the death of the former MP.
