PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea (Radio Australia, Dec. 10) - The Papua New Guinea Prime Minister, Sir Michael Somare, will today Hold talks in Port Moresby with the visiting Premier of the Australian state of Queensland.

Trade and business are high on the agenda, and meetings will include discussions with parties involved in planning a multi-billion-dollar gas pipeline between PNG and Australia.

Premier Peter Beattie's involvement in discussions is seen as a positive step for the project, which has been struggling to lock in Queensland customers by the new year.

The visit begins with a business breakfast, before a visit to the Bomana world war two cemetery just outside the PNG capital. Mr Beattie will also renew a 10-year-old business link between the Government's of PNG and Queensland, signing a new Memorandum of Understanding.
