SUVA, Fiji (Radio Fiji, Jan. 9) – Fiji’s National Farmers Union (NFU) in Labasa has urged the Government to help farmers who have been told to vacate their land.

Eighty-four families have been given notices to vacate their properties after their leases expired.

The families affected are in Nagata, Naduna, Rualago and part of Suvenaki in the northern division.

NFU president Dewan Chand says families have begun dismantling their houses and farms.

"The future for these families will be bleak if they aren't found land where they can be re-settled," Chand said.
