AUSTRALIAN MINISTER SAYS ANTHRAX VACCINE SAFE

MELBOURNE, Australia (Radio Australia, Feb. 13) - Australia's defence minister Robert Hill is blaming internet websites for spreading what he says is misinformation about the anthrax vaccine.

Eleven Australian sailors have been sent home from the Middle East after refusing to be inoculated because of concerns about the side effects.

Hill says he will have the vaccine as soon as is convenient, and is confident the government's medical advice is accurate.

"Unfortunately there are those who are promoting through websites suggestions of severe adverse reactions but that's not our medical advice - the medical advice that this is a perfectly safe inoculation and we're providing it to them for their safety," he said.
