JAPAN OFFERS SUPPORT TO FIJI RED CROSS

TOKYO (Radio Australia, Feb. 21) - Japan will provide funding for the Fiji Red Cross cyclone relief effort and its nationwide blood donor service.

The Japanese Ambassador in Suva has signed contracts for more than US$137,500 for emergenchy equipment.

The funding will enable the Fiji Red Cross to buy two ambulances to assist with blood collection.

It will also enable the organization to fit radio equipment in its vehicle fleet and to install 5,000-liter water tanks in more than 60 schools in the north and east of the country.
