SOAKI MURDER SUSPECT ON RUN IN SOLOMONS

HONIARA, Solomon Islands (SIBC, Feb. 27) - A suspect in the killing of Sir Frederick Soaki is believed to be on the run on Malaita.

SIBC understands that the suspect is armed and police officers sent to Auki to investigate the case are very careful about mounting an operation to reprimand him.

The suspect is believed to be a police officer, and the police are trying to establish a motive for the murder.

SIBC understands that police investigators are looking into the possibility that the suspect may have been holding grudges against the late Sir Frederick when he was Police Commissioner.

Police are also considering the idea that some people who played a very active role in the recent ethnic tension may not have wanted Sir Frederick around because he was going to chair the Commission of Inquiry to look into the causes of the country’s civil unrest and its initiators.
