WELLINGTON, New Zealand (RNZI, Mar. 31) - American Samoa’s acting Governor, Togi-ola Tula-fono, has declared April 1 as a day of mourning throughout the territory, following the sudden death of Governor Tauese Sunia.

The 61 year old Governor suffered a cardiac arrest and died during a flight to Honolulu last Thursday.

His body is to be returned to American Samoa tomorrow night

The government has also given details of three memorial services to be held next week.

Tula-fono said the annual Flag Day celebrations, scheduled to be held in the middle of April, will be postponed to coincide with the U.S. Fourth of July Holiday.
