MELBOURNE, Australia (Radio Australia, April 2) - Foreigners
arriving in Thailand from countries affected by outbreaks of Severe Acute
Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) must wear masks at all times or face a six-month
jail term or fine.

Thailand's health minister, Sudarat Keyuraphan, says foreigners
coming from five affected areas will have their health thoroughly checked when
entering the country.

The five areas are Hong Kong, Mainland China, Vietnam, Singapore
and Taiwan.

Sudarat says anyone suspected of carrying SARS will be denied
entry.

The health ministry has also reiterated an order that Thais
returning from the countries heavily affected by SARS stay at home for 14 days.

Both foreigners and Thais face six months in jail or hefty fines
if they disobey the ministry directives.
