WELLINGTON, New Zealand (RNZI, May 7) - A senior Fiji official
has warned that the country is vulnerable to international terrorism.

The Fiji Times reports that the warning came from Secretary For
Foreign Affairs Ratu Isoa Gavidi after talks with his Australian counterpart, Dr
Ashton Culvert, in Suva.

Gavidi says Fiji is a soft target for terrorists because of its
large tourist industry.

He says nothing should be taken for granted.

Ratu Isoa said Australia had offered assistance in fighting
terrorism and law enforcement.

Calvert said these issues had received a lot of attention in
bilateral talks and Australia wants to help with practical measures to counter
terrorism threats.
