MELBOURNE, Australia (Radio Australia, May 21) - Fiji's 2003
South Pacific Games torch relay today began day two of its 40-day journey across
the country.

Hundreds of people were at yesterday's lighting ceremony and
more are expected to welcome the Flame as it is carried across the western side
of the main island, Viti Levu.

The Games Organizing committee chief executive, JD Maharaj, said
he wants as many people as possible to see and handle the Games torch before the
opening ceremony on June 28th:

"There is very good enthusiasm because it is one thing that
is going around the country," Maharaj said. "The theme of the torch
relay is One-Fiji and we are trying to get the message of reconciliation and
getting all races to share that one torch and flame and holding together and
moving ahead."
