WELLINGTON, New Zealand (RNZI, June 6) - A tropical cyclone has
formed in the area of the eastern Solomon Islands and northern Vanuatu.

A warning has been issued by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center in
Honolulu, saying Cyclone Gina last night was 140 miles north-northeast of
Espiritu Santo in Vanuatu and was moving in a southwesterly direction.

The cyclone was moving at about 9 knots, with winds as high as
115 knots by tonight.

Forecasters say if the storm continues on its current path,
northern Vanuatu can expect winds to increase to damaging gale force or stronger
early tomorrow.
