MELBOURNE, Australia (Radio Australia, June 8) – An unusual
out-of-season cyclone that battered Tikopia in the Solomon Islands Friday with
gale force winds and high seas was weakening Monday in the South Pacific Ocean.

The Tropical Cyclone Warning Center in Fiji said Cyclone Gina on
Sunday was located north-west of New Caledonia.

It was moving at three knots, or about six kilometers an hour
with wind speeds of about 120-kilometres an hour.

Over the next twelve hours, Cyclone Gina may curve
south-eastwards, and is expected to pass over New Caledonia sometime tomorrow.
