MELBOURNE, Australia (Radio Australia, June 25) - Papua New
Guinea has pledged support for a regional response to the Solomon Islands' law
and order problems.

Foreign Minister Sir Rabbie Namaliu was speaking after talks
with the Solomons' Foreign Minister, Laurie Chan, in Port Moresby.

Namaliu said the nature of the PNG contribution will be
finalized at a meeting of Pacific Forum Foreign Ministers in Sydney next week.

"We're prepared to assist," he said. "The nature
of our contribution will obviously depend on the discussions to be held on
Monday."
