MELBOURNE, Australia (Radio Australia, July 29) - Tonga-based Justice Gordon Ward is close to handing down a much-awaited court ruling on a challenge to the Tuvalu government.

James Duckworth, the lawyer representing the opposition members of parliament says he has been informed that a ruling will be delivered next week.

The opposition members are challenging the government's attempt to delay the sitting of parliament so that it can stay in office until the end of the year.

The court challenge came after the opposition secured the majority in the 15-member parliament by just one vote after a by-election a few months ago.
