MELBOURNE, Australia (Radio Australia, Aug. 6) - Fiji Labour
Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry said he has no intention of complying with a
government deadline for opposition Cabinet nominations.

Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase was ordered last month by the
Supreme Court to include members of the Labor Party in his Cabinet, as set down
by the country's multi-party constitution.

Qarase has offered places for 14 Labor members of parliament,
but has threatened to select them himself unless he receives nominees by today.

Chaudhry said the deadline is unreasonable and that he will give
his response after caucus meetings this weekend.

Chaudhry said the portfolios offered by Qarase are inadequate.
