NAURU PRESIDENT OUSTED

MELBOURNE, Australia (Radio Australia, August 8) - Nauru President, Ludwig Scotty has been ousted in a vote of no confidence.

An Australian based public relations consultant for the Scotty government has confirmed to Radio Australia that cabinet has reinstated Former president Rene Harris as President.

The news came as a prominent Australian human rights activist is alleging a possible conspiracy against him between the Australian and Nauru governments after his visa to visit the Pacific nation was revoked.

Jesuit lawyer, Father Frank Brennan, was due to arrive yesterday in Nauru as a guest of the local parish priest to discuss the issue of asylum seekers being housed in Nauru as part of Australia's Pacific solution.

Father Brennan hopes the rights of religious freedom and association of Nauru citizens have not been subverted by Canberra's financial and political considerations.
