MELBOURNE, Australia (Radio Australia, Oct. 27) - Australian tourism authorities have set a goal of attracting one million Chinese tourists annually by 2013.

About 190,000 Chinese tourists visited Australia last year.

Australia's Tourism Minister Joe Hockey, who is in Beijing, says he wants to see a massive growth in tourism from China.

"Today I am announcing a target of one million visitors by 2013," he said.

China is the sixth largest source of tourists to Australia, however, China's SARS outbreak saw a drop in Chinese going on holidays.

Mr Hockey says 25,000 fewer Chinese visited Australia in the first eight months of this year, costing Australia about A$100 million (US$70 million) in lost revenue.
