VANUATU YOUTH TO CONVENE AIDS CONGRESS

MELBOURNE, Australia (Radio Australia, Oct. 30) - A group of non governmental organizations in Vanuatu is organizing the Pacific’s first National Youth AIDS congress.

It will be funded by UNICEF with additional support from AusAID and Oxfam New Zealand.

Last year UNICEF sponsored the first regional youth AIDS congress.

One resolution from the congress was that Pacific countries convene their own youth meeting - Vanuatu is the first to do so.

The congress will bring together 100 young people from almost every island in Vanuatu next week.

Delegates from Papua New Guinea and possibly South Africa are also expected to attend the Port Vila congress.
