MELBOURNE, Australia (Radio Australia, Dec. 3) - The size of the Solomon Islands public service will become the focus of attention of the Regional Assistance Mission next year.

Special Coordinator of the Australian led regional mission, Nick Warner, says the mission will be working closely with government to determine how it can assist to identify issues that hinder the work of the public service.

He says finding solutions to ensure that government machinery works efficiently and cost effectively will be the main focus.

Mr Warner also says assistance will be given to provincial administrations.

Most of the nine provincial governments have been unable to provide services or work because of a lack of finance when the central government fell behind in provincial grant payments.
