WELLINGTON, New Zealand (RNZI, Dec. 16) - Fiji’s Director of Public Prosecutions reportedly says there is not currently enough evidence to bring coup-related charges against former police commissioner Isikia Savua.

Fiji TV reports, however, that the prosecutor recommended that the investigation continue.

He says while the file on Savua is still open, they cannot do much unless concrete evidence comes to hand.

Mr Koroi says people must come forward if they have evidence.

Otherwise, the new police commissioner, Andrew Hughes, has said all files will be closed at the end of the year.

Col. Savua was appointed Fiji’s Ambassador to the United Nations in January this year.
