TINIAN LIGHTS UP IN ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARADE

HAGATNA, Guam (Pacific Daily News, Dec. 25) – Brightly-decorated floats and Christmas dance performances were among the highlights of the 2003 Children's Candlelight and Float Parade held recently in Tinian.

Of the 10 float entries; Tinian's Department of Labor took first place with its float decorated with strings of light and children in costumes.

Of the five performance entries, Tinian Elementary School's first- and fifth-grade classes placed first and second place respectively with their dance routines.

The judging of the floats and performances took place at the entrance of the Tinian Dynasty Hotel and Casino.

A $100 consolation prize was given to all the participants of the event.

The parade was a prelude to Tinian's New Year's Eve fireworks display.

"I would like to extend my appreciation to all the participants for this year's Christmas Children's Candlelight and Float Parade," said Ray Dela Cruz, director of Tinian Promotions and Visitors Information Center "They have done a fantastic job in bringing the holiday spirit to the community and most especially the children."
