FIJI’S NAUSORI AIRPORT DRAW INTEREST FROM ABROAD

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (RNZI, Jan. 22) - A company owned by the Chinese government and an Australian firm are reportedly interested in forming a joint venture with a Fiji company to take over management of Nausori Airport.

The Daily Post reports that this has been confirmed by the chairman of Fiji’s Strategic Air Services Limited, which currently provides air traffic control services at Nadi and Nausori.

Navitalai Naisoro says he is confident that with the new joint venture they can turn Nausori around from a loss-making airport into a profitable one.

The current operator of Nausori, the state-owned Airports Fiji Limited, wants to outsource management after the airport lost more than US$870,000 last year.
