LOGGING LICENSE SUSPENDED IN WESTERN SOLOMONS

HONIARA, Solomon Islands (PFnet News, April 1) - The company conducting logging in the conservation area near Mbilli Island in Marovo Lagoon in the Western Solomons has had its license suspended for registration discrepancies, including an unauthorized name change.

Following much attention in the media spearheaded by PFnet News, Bulo Enterprises had its license suspended yesterday by the Commissioner of Forests for procedural discrepancies.

In the letter from the Commissioner of Forests to the Managing Director of Bulo Enterprises, dated 30th March 2004, the Commissioner pointed out problems, including the unauthorized use of the license by a third party.

The license has therefore been suspended whilse these issues are looked into.
