BISHOP INSTALLED IN SOLOMON’S ISABEL DIOCESE

HONIARA, Solomon Islands (SIBC, April 18) - Traditional dancing and feasting were part of the day’s events as thousands of Solomon Islanders today witnessed the consecration and the installation of the new Bishop of the Diocese of Isabel of the Church of Melanesia.

Bishop Richard Naramana, who comes from Hograno district of Isabel Province, is the fifth Diocesan Bishop of the Diocese of Isabel, which also includes the Russell islands, Western and Choiseul Provinces in the Solomon Islands.

The consecration service, live-broadcast from Saint Paul's church at Buala village this morning, was led by the Archbishop of the Church of Melanesia, Sir Ellison Pogo.

Among the church and government dignitaries attending the ceremony were the Archbishop of the Catholic Church, Bishop Adrian Smith and the Prime Minister, Sir Allan Kemakeza.
