HONIARA, Solomon Islands (Pfnet, April 21) - A student has revealed the absence of teachers at White River School in the Solomon Islands.

The form four student told PFnet News that for the last three weeks there were no classes held due to non-availability of teachers.

The student revealed to PFnet News an ongoing dispute between teachers regarding allegations of mismanagement of school funds, and an attempt to remove the school principal by some schoolteachers and the school board.

According to the form four student, the dispute has caused a split amongst school teachers and as a result, teachers for the past three weeks had not wanted to attend classes to teach the students.

Reports reaching PFnet News Desk also revealed that as of today Wednesday 21st April 2004, the student group has started to mobilize and is secretly planning to demonstrate their frustration in a manner they see fit.

On this basis, the students are asking the appropriate authority to remove all teachers teaching at White River school and replace them with new teachers whose first priority is their students rather than themselves.
