PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea (PNG Post-Courier, June 30) – There must be a real dinosaur in East New Britain, said Kokopo Mayor Albert Buanga yesterday following rumors of a second sighting of the strange creature at Warangoi.

East New Britain is an island province of Papua New Guinea.

Buanga said there was still no confirmation of the dinosaur-like animal after the first sighting, at Tinganavudu outside Kokopo Town in March.

A team including the mayor, Councilor of Tinganavudu Ward Michael Tarwana, policemen armed with bush knives and rifles, youths and news reporters went to Tinganavudu to confirm the first reports of a dinosaur.

The team heard that the dinosaur was gray in color, had a head like a dog, a tail like a crocodile, was about three meters tall and was as big as a 200-liter water tank.

A woman who lives at Kabaleo Teachers College, who did not want to be named, said one of her relatives told her that the creature was spotted at Warangoi last week.

Meanwhile, the head of Japanese International Cooperation System, Satoshi Iwamoto, is already camping at Tinganavudu to conduct investigations.
