NUKU'ALOFA, Tonga (Maganti Tonga, Aug. 19) - Honorable Baron Vaea of Houma will today officially open three classrooms and a staff quarter for Houma Government Primary School, which is funded under Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects.

These grants are part of an initiative by the Government of Japan to provide funding to 100 schools in the South Pacific Forum Island Countries over a three-year period from 2003 to 2005.

The project is valued at US$57,226.

Mr. Mitsuo Ishikawa, Resident Representative of JICA Tonga Office said that this project is far-reaching as the classrooms will no longer be overcrowded and the teachers and students can better focus on their respective tasks of teaching and learning.
