INTERNET EXPERTS MEET IN VANUATU

PORT VILA, Vanuatu (Port Villa Presse, August 25) - Top information technology engineers and technicians started a weeklong meeting in Port Vila, Vanuatu today.

They are participating in the annual PacInet Conference with the theme this year of education and the use of Internet and communications technology.

Forty delegates from around the South Pacific region are taking part and there are specialist speakers from New Zealand, the U.S. and Australia.

To create greater awareness of safe practices when using e mail and the internet, a three day workshop is being conducted by the New Zealand based Internet Safety Group in New Zealand.

In addition a two day seminar on MapServer is being conducted as a European Union funded project for reducing vulnerabilities in Pacific Island states.
