RADISSON OPENS $50 MILLION HOTEL ON TAHITI

PAPEETE, Tahiti (Tahitipresse, Aug. 23) –A new 165-room luxury resort opened on French Polynesia's main island of Tahiti last week, boosting the total hotel capacity of the French Pacific country to over 3,300 rooms.

The resort, the Radisson Plaza Resort Tahiti, was developed by the international hospitality conglomerate Radison at cost of US$50 million.

It is located on the eastern coast of Tahiti, on a beach famous for its black sand.

The new project is expected to generate some 160 local jobs.

French Polynesia was visited by 210,000 tourists last year, mainly from metropolitan France, Europe, Northern America and to a lesser extent, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
