HONIARA, Solomon Islands (SIBC, Aug. 26) –The Premier of Malaita Province in the Solomon Islands, Reuben Moli, is leading a two-man delegation to Japan.

The purpose of the two-week visit is to see and study Japanese small-scale organic farms, small-scale industries as well as technology used by farmers, and to look at environmental protection methods.

The Premier's party will also look at downstream processing of farm products, training methods and marketing.

Moli says the visit is important to the future development of sustainable provincial agriculture sector.

He says the visit is in line with his province's policy on agriculture development to ensure rural participation in agricultural activities, which have been part of their lives over many years.

The visit is made possible through an invitation from Cosmo Oil Company, which is paying for the duo's air fares, accommodation and transport while in Japan.

Moli is to be accompanied by the province's Principal Planning Officer Daniel Fa'alimae.
