PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea (The National, Oct.13) - Papua New Guinea and Nigeria produce and export almost the same commodities and face similar economic difficulties and development challenges.

Acting Governor General Sir Mari Kapi highlighted this during a presentation by the Nigeria High Commissioner Dr. Icha Ituma at Government House yesterday.

Mari said PNG and Nigeria should explore the possibility of putting in place the necessary framework arrangements, under which both countries could share experiences, through the exchange of valuable information and technical expertise.

"Both countries could draw from the experiences and lessons of each other to address the development challenges in their respective countries."

Ituma told Mari that Nigeria has noted with great admiration the progress made so far by the PNG government in its effort to enthrone genuine democracy and deliver good governance to the people.

"It is my fervent hope and prayers that during my tenure, our bilateral relations will witness a tremendous boost for the mutual benefits of our two countries and people."
