MELBOURNE, Australia (Radio Australia, Oct. 13) – Fiji’s President Ratu Josefa Iloilo has bestowed Fiji’s highest honor on the world’s new Number One Golfer, Vijay Singh.

Fiji has just celebrated its 34th anniversary of Independence and Vijay Singh and the Chief Justice head the Independence Day Honors List.

Both Vijay Singh and Chief Justice Daniel Fatiaki have been made Companions of the Order of Fiji.

The citation for Singh says that he has for the past fourteen years placed Fiji in international golfing headlines and ensured that the flag of Fiji has proudly flown at golfing venues around the world.

Vijay Singh took over the mantle of the World’s Number One Golfer from Tiger Woods last month.
