INDIAN OFFICIAL TO VISIT FIJI

MELBOURNE, Australia (Radio Australia, Nov. 1) – An Indian Government Minister plans to visit Fiji this week to promote a meeting of people of Indian origin, known as Pravasi Bhartiya Divas.

The Minister of State responsible for Indians Living Overseas, Jagdish Taitler, will also hold talks with Fiji's business community.

The third Pravasi Bhartiya Divas will be held in India in January.

Fiji has been represented in the previous two events by official government delegations, headed by the former Multi-ethnic Affairs Minister, George Shiu Raj.

Mr Taitler is scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase on Tuesday.
